Jul 18,2021
In today’s waterproofing industry, the advantages of spray-applied waterproof coatings—transitioning from manual application to mechanized spraying—are clear. Among all types of spraying equipment, polyurethane spray machines stand out for their compact size, light weight, low failure rate, portability, and ease of operation, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. Let’s explore some key operating techniques for polyurethane spray machines.
In today’s waterproofing industry, the advantages of waterproof coatings applied by mechanized spraying over traditional manual methods are readily apparent. Among all types of spraying equipment, Polyurethane spray machine It features a compact size, light weight, low failure rate, easy portability, and user-friendly operation. It can be applied in numerous fields. Let’s take a closer look. Polyurethane spray machine Operating techniques.

1 Polyurethane spray machine Preparation Before Spraying
The spray gun and associated equipment should be clean and in proper working condition. Inspect the nozzle for severe wear, as excessive wear can lead to paint waste during application and compromise coating quality. Next, verify that the spray gun is of optimal design: an ideal spray gun exhibits symmetrical atomization, uniform mist distribution, and well-defined edges.
2. Spray pressure of the polyurethane spray machine
The pressure required for liquid atomization and inhalation must be reduced; therefore, the guiding principle for pressure control is: “Excellent atomization and inhalation performance with appropriately balanced pressure.” Excessively high pressure cannot improve coating quality, shortens equipment lifespan, increases nozzle damage, and causes paint rebound, leading to wasted coating material and environmental pollution.
3 Polyurethane Spraying Techniques
01
Spraying distance of the polyurethane spray machine
During the spraying process, the distance between the spray gun and the surface should be kept as constant as possible and not too close. Select an appropriate distance based on the desired spray finish.
Conventional air atomization: 15–20 cm.
Non‑atomizing mist: 30–38 cm.
When you want a wet, dark, and thick coating, the spray gun can be held close.
When you achieve a drier, lighter, and thinner coat, you can move the spray gun farther away.
02
Polyurethane spray machine spraying stroke
1. The spray gun body of the polyurethane spraying machine should be held perpendicular to the surface being sprayed; otherwise, paint waste will occur.
2. Do not allow the spray gun to bend or move; instead, rely on the operator to move their forearm and shoulder, rather than just the wrist.
3. Adjacent spray lines shall overlap; quantity.
4. When the coating thickness exhibits high uniformity, a cross-spray technique should be employed, with vertical spraying performed first.
5. When spraying in windy outdoor conditions, pay attention to the wind direction. Unsprayed surfaces should be positioned downwind to allow overspray to rebound onto those surfaces.
The above-mentioned basic skills are intended solely as inspiration.
Due to the significant differences between the substrate and the coating, substantial disparities exist between them.
You can refine your polyurethane spray‑coating skills by assessing your specific circumstances and applying these fundamental principles.
