The PLC host comprises a CPU, memory (EPROM and RAM), input/output units, peripheral I/O interfaces, communication interfaces, and a power supply. Building upon traditional sequential controllers, the PLC control system integrates microelectronics, computer technology, automatic control, and communication technologies, giving rise to a new generation of industrial control devices. Its purpose is to replace relay‑based logic, timing, counting, and other sequential control functions, thereby establishing a flexible, remote‑control system.
Electrical control cabinets assemble switching devices, measuring instruments, protective relays, and auxiliary equipment within enclosed or semi-enclosed metal enclosures or panels, in accordance with electrical wiring requirements. Their layout must ensure normal operation of the power system, facilitate maintenance, and safeguard both personnel and surrounding equipment. An energy management system is an information‑based control platform designed to help industrial enterprises expand production while optimizing energy planning and utilization, reducing energy consumption per unit of output, improving economic efficiency, and lowering CO2 emissions. In a monolithic PLC, all components are housed within a single enclosure. By contrast, in a modular PLC, individual units—called modules—are packaged separately; these modules are mounted on a rack and interconnected via cables. The various subsystems communicate with the central processor through power buses, control buses, address buses, and data buses, enabling the integration of diverse external devices tailored to specific control tasks and thereby forming different PLC‑based control systems. Common external devices include programmers, EPROM writers, and similar tools. Additionally, PLC communication modules can be configured to interface with host computers or other PLCs, supporting the implementation of distributed PLC control systems.
